About Us
About UNAA NSW
The United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) NSW Division is part of a global network of United Nations Associations connected through the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA).
As a proud member of this international family, UNAA NSW is dedicated to advancing the values and objectives of the United Nations, including promoting peace, human rights, sustainable development, and active global citizenship.
Our Purpose
At UNAA NSW, our purpose is captured in three core actions: Inform, Inspire, Engage.
These guiding principles drive everything we do:
Inform.
Raising awareness of global issues and the UN’s mission through events, digital content, and education programs.
Inspire.
Empowering individuals to take action through volunteering, placements, and leadership opportunities.
Engage.
Building partnerships and expanding our networks to amplify impact and connect communities to global solutions.
By working together, we aim to foster a thriving network of active global citizens who are equipped and motivated to address today’s most pressing challenges.

Our Strategic Plan
Our Strategic Plan outlines our key priorities and goals.
We are committed to:
-
Expanding our reach by increasing engagement through digital platforms, regional outreach, and targeted membership growth.
-
Enhancing our impact through high-quality events, educational initiatives, and deeper collaboration across our four key pillars - Peace & Security, Human Rights, Sustainable Development, and Global Citizenship.
-
Strengthening financial sustainability by shifting to a revenue-generating model for events, growing partnerships, and increasing sponsorship opportunities.
-
Improving operational efficiency through better governance, volunteer coordination, and streamlined processes to support all UNAA NSW activities.

Our Executive Committee

A Message from our President
“We are the New South Wales division of the United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA), non-profit, non-government, membership-based, community organisation working to promote the aims and ideals of the United Nations and seek support for the UN and its programs and agencies. One of more than 100 member organisations of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), and one of seven United Nations Associations in Australia.
We play a critical role in connecting Australians with the United Nations and educating the community on key international and local environmental, human rights, and social justice issues.
UNAA NSW is made up of a wide range of people all from diverse backgrounds and outlooks. The one view that we all share is that we have a chance to make our society and environment a better place to live in, a place that we can unreservedly pass along to our children, knowing that we have done our best and what is right. This is a wonderful chance for you to see what the UNAA is doing at the grassroots level in NSW. I wholeheartedly invite you to explore the site and should you feel interested, to contact us and come to see the UNAA in action.
Dr Patricia Jenkings BA (Hons) PHD (USYD)
President UNAA NSW Division | Vice President UNA Australia”
The Executive Committee is elected by member vote at the AGM in October each year. Members who are interested in nominating for the Executive Committee are encouraged to contact us via nsw@unaa.org.au.
